Joann Sfar\’s adaptation of The Little Prince has reached Brazil. Translated into Portuguese by Dom Marcos Barbosa and André Telles, the comic strip is published by Agir. As universal in its appeal as the original book itself, it is scheduled for translation in no fewer than 22 countries, including Germany, Korea, Finland, Mexico and Taiwan. From 13 February to 13 March 2009, the Institut Français (French cultural institute) in Casablanca will be paying tribute to Saint-Exupéry and The Little Prince. The celebration marks the occasion of the publication of The Little Prince in Darija by publishers Aïni Bennaï at the Casablanca International Book Fair from 13 to 22 February, and also the 90th anniversary of the first air link between France and Morocco, from Toulouse to Rabat via Casablanca, on 9 March 1919. With the support of the Succession Antoine de Saint-Exupéry and Editions Gallimard, the French Embassy in Morocco and the Institut Français in Casablanca are staging events, lectures, stage shows, exhibitions and conferences around the theme of Saint-Exupéry and The Little Prince.

At the 36th Angoulême International Comic Strip Festival, the comic strip by Joann Sfar currently flying off the shelves (initial print run of 110,000 copies and now reprinting) took an « Essentiel » award in the Youth category, heading a list of 19 nominees. Well done, Joann Sfar!
